Multimedia Work

Below is the culmination of my Multimedia work. Within each of my cooking blogs you will find both the recipe and cost of the recipe in their descriptions. In the description of my journalist videos and song covers is a detailed explanation of the making of each video. The trials and errors I encountered during the making of all my videos have only bettered my process and understanding of visual communication and storytelling.

    Dad's Creamy Spinach Rice

So today’s recipe is special from my dad 🤗✨ I don’t have a name for this rice that he cooks so I’ll just describe it, it’s basically a creamy rice with spinach and bell pepper — it has other things in it too but those are the flavors that really come through! I hope you enjoy the video and try cooking this yourself at home! It only cost me about 15 dollars to make, so not too expensive, and about 30-45min to cook! If you want to give this one a go I have the recipe detailed out (written by my dad) below!😋

    ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

    Ingredients:

    1 bag of Spinach

    2 cups of Chicken broth

8 oz of Heavy Whipping Cream

    2 cups of rice

    1 bunch of cilantros

    1 bunch of green onions

    2 large Red Bell Peppers

    1 stick of butter

    1 tablespoon of minced garlic

2 tablespoons of avocado oil or olive oil

    1 teaspoon of salt

    2 teaspoons of black peppers

    Pinch of dried basil

    Handheld blender

Add the avocado/olive oil to a small pot and heat up

    Add the minced garlic

Add ½ cup of chopped Cilantro

    Add chopped green onions

    Add chopped Red Bell Pepper

    Add Salt, pepper, and Basil

After heating them up and stirring them up add:

Chicken broth let it simmer for 30 minutes

After it simmers add 8 oz of Heavy whipping cream

Use a handheld blender and blend all ingredients

Add 2 cups of white rice

    4 cups of water

    Half a stick of butter

    Salt

Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 15 minutes.

As the rice comes close to being ready add the bag of spinach and 1/2 butter to the top of the rice. When the spinach looks steamed, turn off. Then add the whipped sauce that is now a reddish orange color to the rice and spinach. Allow to sit for 5 minutes and serve.

    Enjoy!

    Ratatouille

    Today I made ratatouille! ✨🐀

It’s a French dish (obviously) and It tasted really good 😋 All of the vegetables and fresh herbs cost about $20. Do not be deceived by the fact that this dish is only vegetables though, with all the fresh herbs and spices it packed a lot of flavor and was very filling. This could honestly be eaten as a main dish or a side, it’s really up to you! I’ve linked the recipe I used below, I hope you guys try it! 👇🏼

    French Lentil Soup

This French lentil soup was made following the recipe from the website www.daringgourmet.com. The ingredients only cost $15 and the process took about 25 minutes to create the soup.

This soup came out thicker and tastier than I anticipated. The lentils really add flavor and texture and all the vegetables really come through. The addition of parsley to this recipe also added a nice layer to the flavor, I highly recommend giving this recipe a try!

Santana - Game of Love Acoustic Cover

This video was one of the first I created at my apartment in College Station. I did this video in one take and decided not to fixate too much on the little things. I told myself to let it be and whatever the outcome of the video was just share it. While I did end up spending a lot of time editing the thumbnail, the experience was a more liberating one than my previous experiences.

  • Adele - Someone Like You Cover

Adele - Someone Like You Cover

The making of this video was only made possible with the help of my parents. I remember I had a very specific vision of myself singing this song in a smoky lounge-type setting, and for some reason I was hell-bent that vision could only come to life in the bedroom of my parents’ house. Being the kind and supportive people they are they helped me move some furniture out of their room and rearrange it a bit so I could get the “perfect” angle and background. I am also completely blind in this video because I had just run out of my contacts and again, felt strongly that my glasses would (ironically enough) undermine my vision.

  • BTS - Dynamite Cover

    BTS - Dynamite Cover

No, I do not have a twin. This was one of the first videos I ever made and one of the first songs I ever learned on guitar. Being one of the first songs I learned, I was unable to sing and play at the same time. The dilemma I faced with this video was trying to figure out a creative way to cover this song with the guitar and vocal accompaniment being showcased together but not recorded together. I could have simply recorded the guitar then my voice and layered them and lip-synced in the video but that felt dishonest, and while the audio is enhanced I wanted it to still be live. Up against a few challenges I decided to try and learn how to create a duplicate of myself. I ended up doing a split screen and did my best to line up the screens, backgrounds, and colors from both sides of the video, however, one thing I didn’t take into account was the number of takes I would end up doing on the vocal part and the fact that the sun sets. If you look closely you can see the difference in day and shadow upon my face. That being said, I did my best during editing to match the colors.

  • Fiona Apple - Paper Bag Cover

Fiona Apple - Paper Bag Cover

This is my family’s favorite cover of mine and I believe rightfully so, not merely because of the song cover but the design of the video. I took inspiration from the Arctic Monkey’s cornerstone music video, in which Alex Turner waltzes around in front of a plain white wall, wearing a red turtle neck and singing into the mic and the camera. The simplicity of it captivated me and I wanted to produce a similar effect, I hope you find it successful in doing so.

Singing 'If I ain't got you' to my cat ♥︎

This video is one of my most recent and probably favorites. I think I like it mainly because my cat is in it, but also because I decided to be relaxed and have fun with it. No specific vision, just me doing what I always do in my living room: making music on my couch, just hanging out, me and my cat.
